I’ve been looking at a lot of mock drafts recently. I especially love the ones with player comparisons. Maybe Adam Morrison is the next Larry Bird. Maybe Saer Sene is the next Mutumbo.

I think they’re a lot of fun, but one player in this year’s draft has been puzzling me. That player is J.J. Redick. Now I hate the guy, despise him with every bone in my body. But I’ll put that aside for now. He’s being compared to players like Drazen Petrovic or even Rip Hamilton. Honestly I don’t see it.

Now I want to preface this by saying I hate it that white players only get compared to other white players for the most part. It’s really, really dumb.

That said I don’t see how everyone can’t be comparing J.J. to Steve Kerr. It makes so much sense. Both are three point specialists. Both can’t create their own shot. Both are fairly unathletic. Both are avarge on D at best.

That’s why I’m so confused. I don’t understand why a team would use a lottery pick on Steve Kerr. Is it because he’ll draw fans? Is it because of the media hype? I don’t know. I guess what they could say is that J.J. is a sure bet. J.J. isn’t going to be out of the league in a year or two like some of the jokes taken in the first round. He’ll continue to be a solid bench player for probably well over ten years.

I can just see J.J. coming into the game in the final seconds of games. The team star will drive to the basket and when the defenders colapse on him he’ll pass to J.J. who’ll nail the game winner.

Ladies and gentlemen I give you…the next Steve Kerr.
